Important boundaries for using SimpliEng around real industrial equipment, chemicals and operations.
What Green means
Green indicates that the calculation passed the checks implemented in that SimpliEng module using the entered information and enabled data. It does not mean that every real-world hazard has been assessed.
What Amber means
Amber indicates that the numerical calculation may be useful, but one or more assumptions, data sources, operating conditions or verification items require further checking.
What Red means
Red indicates that the entered condition failed an implemented limit/check, the inputs are invalid, or the calculation cannot support the proposed condition as entered.
Chemical operations
- Confirm the correct chemical, concentration, grade and receiving vessel.
- Use current SDS/TDS/CoA information where required.
- Confirm material compatibility of hoses, seals, pumps, pipework and tanks.
- Consider temperature, decomposition, reaction, dilution heat and mixing order.
- Follow site unloading/mixing procedures and emergency arrangements.
Pumping and pressure offload
- Confirm pump duty data from the manufacturer where required.
- Verify suction conditions and NPSH for pump applications.
- For air/pressure offload, verify vessel, hose and line pressure limits and receiving-tank venting.
- Consider surge, blockage, closed valves and trapped pressure.
Tanks and deliveries
- Use certified strapping/calibration data where available.
- Working level is not the same thing as physical brim-full capacity.
- Allow for thermal expansion, line drain-back, alarms/trips and operating reserve.
- Confirm the receiving tank and product identity before connection or unloading.
Electrical and construction tools
Electrical calculations in SimpliEng are not a replacement for cable sizing, protection/discrimination, motor starting, harmonics or electrical certification. Build tools are quantity estimators and are not structural or geotechnical design.
